EREDIVISIE (DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIP)
The eredivisie is the football championship league conducted in the Netherlands. It was inaugurated in the year 1956, but now it is currently ranked the ninth best league in the Europe. The top division of the league consists of 18 teams. Each team is given two chances one at the home ground and the other away from the home. After the end of the season the bottom team is relegated to the second level, with Eerste Divise being the first level. The champions in the first level after the end of the season play are automatically promoted to the eredivisie championship. The playoffs are offered for two times as the above mentioned leagues and the finalist who wins the title is awarded the Dutch national championship. Ajax club has won the most, a total of 22 titles. PSV Eindhoven and fevenoord are in the next consecutive places winning 18 titles and 9 titles respectively. The Ajax has also won 30 national titles and is ranked first and the PSV Eindhoven club has won twenty one Dutch titles till now and is ranked in the second place. The league was first named as PTT Telecompetitie till the year 1999, and then it was renamed as KPN Eredivisie till the end of the year 2002. Then it was renamed to Holland casino eredivisie. This league was called by this name till the year 2005. Then in the next season the sponsor of the league was sponsorloteriji. Due to some legal problems this name was not attached to the name of the league.
Regarding to the fan bases the attendance of these three clubs was great. That three clubs were Ajax, PSVand feyenoord. The average attendance over the years 1990 was seven thousand. In the latter years the fans count increased exponentially and now the average season attendance is 19,827.
